The Old Port Store is perfectly placed for easy access to many of the attractions that this corner of Wigtownshire offers, including Scotland’s most southerly point, the Mull of Galloway. Nearby there are also beautiful gardens to visit typified by Logan Botanic Gardens, Glenwhan Gardens and Castle Kennedy Gardens.

The Galloway Forest offers exceptional walking and cycling and has been designated the first Dark Sky Park outside the USA.

There are many beautiful coastal walks to be enjoyed, stone circles and ancient ruins and an RSPB reserve.

There are other sporting opportunities such as trout and salmon fishing on the numerous local lochs. Sea angling is available from both the rocks along the coastline as well as by boat.

For the avid golfer there are no less that 7 golf courses within a 25 mile radius of the Old Port Store, one being St Medan’s, the most southerly course in Scotland.

For those who like outdoor activities there are many choices, from kayaking, paddle boarding, pony trekking, mountain biking, to visiting Laggan Outdoor Centre to try out one of the longest zip wires in Europe.

Old Port Store is only 20 minutes from the port of Cairnryan where guests can enjoy a day trip to Belfast and all it has to offer including the fantastic new Titanic Belfast museum and W5 the science centre.
